  • Last week, the House and Senate passed a continuing resolution to keep the federal government funded at current levels through December 9. President Obama signed the legislation, averting a government shutdown. Both chambers are now in recess through Election Day.
  • Thanks to the Societies’ efforts from Hill Day, Congressman Robert Hurt (D-NC) is now a co-sponsor of The Personalize Your Care Act (H.R. 5555).
  • The National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine hosted a webinar on its recently released report Families Caring for an Aging America. You can find the slides from the webinar under the “Resources” section of The Academies’ website.
  • The National Quality Forum released the final report for its Measuring Home and Community Based Services Quality Project. The report analyzes eleven domains of HCBS quality, including workforce and caregiver support, and provides short-term, intermediate, and long-term recommendations for quality measurement in each area. Additionally, the report identifies gaps in HCBS quality measurement, describes challenges for measuring HCBS quality, and provides recommendations for prioritization in measurement.
