Many now working in post-acute and long-term care settings may be unaware of the passing of Augusta Alba, MD, on November 5, 2024, a couple of weeks after celebrating her 100th birthday with family, friends, and former colleagues. Although Dr. Alba was a petite woman, she was truly a giant in the field of post-acute rehabilitation, and her humility belied her many great accomplishments. I had the tremendous privilege of working closely with her at Coler-Goldwater Specialty Hospital and Nursing Facility from 1996 until her retirement in 2010.
