Urge Your Representatives to Support the Coronavirus Provider Protection Act
Reps. Phil Roe, MD (R-TN) and Lou Correa (D-CA) have introduced H.R. 7059, the Coronavirus Provider Protection Act, to grant targeted, limited liability protections to pandemic responders on the front lines of the COVID-19 response.
The bill has already attracted several bipartisan cosponsors, but there's still much more work that needs to be done. Ask your member of Congress to sign on to this critical bill and urge your senators to incorporate similar language into their coronavirus relief legislation.
Passage of the Coronavirus Provider Protection Act, a bill with bipartisan support, will avoid state challenges by personal injury attorneys to executive orders and legislation. It will reduce medical lawsuit abuse that stems from the workforce shortages; inadequate safety supplies; and changing guidance from federal, state, and local government officials to which our health care providers and facilities have been subject since the pandemic began.
These protections will provide desperately needed limited liability protections for health care providers and facilities at the federal level.
