Society Sets Priorities Around COVID Vaccine Distribution

Policy Snapshot

As COVID-19 vaccines continue to roll out throughout the country, the Society released a statement indicating that all residents and healthcare workers in post-acute and long-term care (PALTC) facilities should get vaccinated if they are eligible and willing to receive it. The Society also set out federal action priorities they support around the COVID-19 vaccine distribution. The Society supports flexibility regarding administration and procurement to increase vaccine distribution as well as improved coordination among local, state, and federal stakeholders.

The Society would also like to see the continued and increased priority of vaccine distribution in the PALTC setting as well as making assisted living and independent living settings a priority. The Society also supports continued priority access as well as more staff support via strike teams to administer monoclonal antibody treatments for nursing home residents.
