Society Once Again a Collaborator for the HIMMS18 Meeting

Policy Snapshot

For the second year in a row, AMDA – The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care medicine is a collaborator for the HIMMS18 conference in Las Vegas, NV March 5-9. The conference is the major health information technology (HIT) event that bring vendors, thought leaders and representatives from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) together to discuss latest trends and policy priorities in the HIT space.

For more than a decade, the Society has worked alongside stakeholder partners in the LTPAC HIT Collaborative on issues related to HIT in the post-acute and long-term (PALTC) care sector. With the help of the Collaborative, in the last several years, HIMMS has incorporated more PALTC related content into the conference, including a pre-conference and a roundtable discussion. Several Society members, such as Terry O’Malley, MD, CMD, and John Derr R, Ph, who serve on key national committees within CMS and the ONC, play a key role at the conference and advocate for Society priorities.

This year, HIMMS contracted with the Foundation for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine to conduct a survey on PALTC HIT readiness. The results of the study are scheduled to be presented at the conference.
