The 5-Time Chair-Stand Test (5-CST) is a widely used tool for evaluating the functional fitness of older adults.1-5 During the test, participants would rise fully to standing from a seated position with their arms crossed for 5 consecutive repetitions. The test cycle concludes when the participant reaches full standing on the last repetition in a “stand-stop” protocol. In contrast, in a “sit-stop” protocol, the participant is fully seated on the final repetition.1 Both stand-stop and sit-stop protocols are heterogeneously adopted in major clinical guidelines and studies.
