Seizure Plans Are Needed in Long-Term Care, Epilepsy Experts Say

Epilepsy experts Rebecca O’Dwyer, MD, and Ilo Leppik, MD, issued a call to arms at PALTC25, the annual conference of the Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medical Association (PALTmed), for nursing homes to develop protocols for managing seizures and for the PALTC community to consider developing national guidance to address the use of rescue medications and other issues important for the care of residents with epilepsy and seizures in nursing facilities.
