I read the recent article published in this journal and written by Mei et al1 with great interest. The authors conducted a meta-analysis to investigate the prognosis of prefrailty and frailty in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). The pooled hazard ratios (HRs) [95% confidence intervals (CIs)] of prefrailty and frailty for mortality were 1.68 (1.46‒1.94) and 1.48 (1.21‒1.81), respectively. In addition, the pooled HRs/risk ratios (95% CIs) of prefrailty and frailty for hospitalization were 1.56 (1.37‒1.76) and 1.21 (0.79‒1.85), respectively.
