Dementia caregivers frequently experience pre-death grief, affecting about 17% of the caregivers,1 yet it often goes unacknowledged. This pre-death grief arises as caregivers witness the progressive cognitive and functional decline of their care-recipients.2 Evidence on its impact on bereavement, however, remains limited and conflicting.3
