Oily Fish Intake Is Inversely Associated With Impaired Functionality: A Population-based Study in Frequent Fish Consumers Aged 60 years or More Living in Rural Ecuador

Oily fish intake has been associated with several positive health outcomes1-3; however, the impact of this nutrient on functionality and the importance of other conditions on this effect have not been well explored. In this study—conducted in community-dwellers aged ≥60 years residing in 3 neighboring rural villages in coastal Ecuador—we aimed to access the association between oily fish intake and impaired functionality, after considering the mediating effects of relevant confounders.
