Nursing Homes Have More Advanced Practice Providers Than Ever Before

More advanced practice providers (APPs) — namely, nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants (PAs)— are working in nursing homes, and have been conducting a greater portion of visits compared with physicians, a cohort study found. This change may lead to fewer rehospitalizations of acute care patients.
