Nursing Facility/Clinician Participation Needed for Brief National Survey: ONC's Health IT Adoption & Use Survey Closes August 31, 2022

August 11, 2022
Policy Snapshot

The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) has contracted with a data analytics and research firm to survey nursing facilities on the current state of health information technology (health IT) adoption and use. Participation in this survey is important because the results will inform future federal health IT policy decisions by both the ONC and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

In addition, the ONC will use the data collected by its contractor, IQVIA, to update Data Brief #41, Electronic Health Record Adoption & Interoperability Among U.S. Skilled Nursing Facilities & Home Health Agencies in 2017Since data collection to date has been very limited, the ONC has authorized IQVIA to open the survey to virtually all nursing facilities.

Please note that this survey closes on August 31, 2022.

The Society is sharing the message below, which was provided by our colleagues at the ONC, in order to promote participation in this survey by nursing facilities. Since the ONC will use the results from this survey in formulating health IT policy, we are eager for the survey to capture and accurately reflect the current state of health IT adoption and use in the post-acute and long-term care sector.

Message from the ONC for Nursing Facilities

IQVIA, a survey and data analytics research firm, is currently conducting a short (<10 minutes) survey on behalf of Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), which is part of the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS). The survey results will help inform health IT policy at CMS and ONC. Note, individual responses will not be published; only aggregate-level summary results will be published. See prior published survey results here.

The focus of this survey is the usage of health information technology, such as electronic health records (or EHRs) and electronic exchange of health information.

To complete the survey, an individual from your organization needs to have specific knowledge of the electronic health record (EHR) systems used within your facility. Please note, IQVIA is only looking to speak to one respondent from each facility.

Interested skilled nursing facilities have two options for participation:

1. Call 917-542-5651 directly between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM to speak to an IQVIA team member directly. If you are unable to connect with a team member, you will be able to leave a message.
2. Register for participation at the following website: www.alphadetail.com/onc.

One of IQVIA’s team members will contact you directly at a time that is convenient for you. 917-542-5651 also is the number you will see on your caller ID when IQVIA attempts to contact you per your registration.
