Novavax COVID-19 Updated Booster Vaccine Covered for Adults Without Cost-Sharing

Following the actions of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is announcing that coverage is available without cost-sharing for the Novavax monovalent COVID-19 booster vaccine for people on Medicare, Medicaid, the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and those who obtain insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace. Individuals ages 18 years and older now have the option to receive a Novavax monovalent booster in addition to an updated (bivalent) Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccine.

As a reminder, regardless of what coverage you have, or whether you have coverage at all, COVID-19 vaccines are free to anyone who wants one, for both children and adults. Staying up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations is the best defense against severe illness, hospitalization, and death from the virus. CMS continues to explore ways to ensure maximum access to COVID19 vaccinations.
