We read with great interest a recent study conducted by Assi et al.1 that proposed an association of hearing loss and hearing aid user with increased likelihood of frailty among older adults in 4 community cohorts. However, because of the cross-sectional nature of this study and potential confounding factors, establishing the causality may pose a challenge. Conducting a more thorough investigation and comprehensive assessment of the unvouched causal effects would greatly enhance the understanding of the exact correlations between hearing impairment and frailty, thereby offering invaluable insights for its clinical management, especially within the realm of geriatric medicine.
