Multiple studies have shown that interaction between the elderly and the youth greatly benefits both. In this study, we investigate the perspective of long-term care (LTC) staff regarding youth volunteers. There is strong evidence that intergenerational relationships promote mutual welfare among the elderly and the youth. One method to create these relationships is to facilitate volunteering in the settings in which elders reside. Currently, youth volunteering in the LTC setting is limited due to barriers from staff as well as the youth volunteers.
