Caring for the Ages
The number of adults aged 65 and older taking five or more prescription drugs has increased by 24% in the last 30 years, which has prompted research into ways to reduce polypharmacy. Deprescription can be successful with certain drug classes — but usually only when there is collaboration with a pharmacist and close follow-up observation.
