Delirium is a common cause of hospital admission from nursing homes. This case discusses a nursing home resident admitted to the hospital for acute mental status changes (AMS) secondary to ertapenem-induced delirium. Increased awareness of this rarely seen antibiotic side effect and consideration of all medications as possible etiologies for delirium is important as nursing home providers are tasked with caring for increasingly multi-morbid and acutely ill patients.
