I read with interest the article by Robitaille et al, “Pain in Canadian Long-Term Care Homes: A Call for Action,” published in the Journal of the American Medical Directors Association, October 2024.1 The authors provide compelling data that up to 85% of residents in Canadian long-term care (LTC) homes experience pain, yet underdetection and undermanagement remain significant challenges because of cognitive impairment, inconsistent assessments, and staff variability.
