Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF) Provider Preview Reports – Now Available
The IRF Provider Preview Reports have been updated and are now available in support of the December 2020 refresh. Please note that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) postponed the September 2020 IRF refresh to December 2020 due to technical issues.
The data contained within the Preview Reports are based on quality assessment data submitted by IRFs from Quarter 1 – 2019 through Quarter 4 – 2019, and the annual update of the claims-based measures data from Quarter 4 – 2017 through Quarter 3 – 2019. Additionally, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) infections measures reflect data from Quarter 4 – 2018 through Quarter 3 – 2019 and Quarter 4 – 2017 through Quarter 1 – 2018 for the influenza measure. The Preview Reports reflect what will be published on IRF Compare and the new Care Compare site during the December 2020 refresh of the website. Providers have until October 26, 2020, to review their performance data. Corrections to the underlying data will not be permitted during this time. However, providers can request CMS review of their data during the preview period if they believe the quality measure scores that are displayed within their Preview Reports are inaccurate.
In the December 2020 refresh CMS will release the following six new measures:
- Changes in Skin Integrity Post-Acute Care (PAC): Pressure Ulcer/Injury
- Drug Regimen Review Conducted with Follow-Up for Identified Issues – PAC IRF QRP
- IRF Functional Outcome Measure: Change in Self-Care Score for Medical Rehabilitation Patients (NQF #2633)
- IRF Functional Outcome Measure: Change in Mobility for Medical Rehabilitation Patients (NQF #2634)
- IRF Functional Outcome Measure: Discharge Self-Care Score for Medical Rehabilitation Patients (NQF #2635)
- IRF Functional Outcome Measure: Discharge Mobility Score for Medical Rehabilitation Patients (NQF #2636)
IRF performance data for these measures will be included for the first time on this preview report.
Additionally, CMS is removing one quality measure from the IRF Compare and Care Compare sites for the December 2020 refresh: Percent of Residents or Patients with Pressure Ulcers that are New or Worsened.
