I’m Calling on You

Navigating PALTC

I’m calling on you to help us strengthen the future post-acute and long-term care workforce and recognize excellence in the current workforce.

Hi, I’m Chris Laxton, Executive Director of the Society, and I am asking for your help.

First, we need you to help spread the word and support the Foundation Futures Program – a program that introduces residents, fellows, advance practitioners, or those from other fields to the PALTC setting. This amazing program has allowed some 900 individuals to attend the Society’s Annual Conference, explore career paths, work with mentors, and see themselves in this field. It’s a great opportunity for practitioners to network with like-minded people and receive cutting-edge education.

Please encourage your students, residents, and mentees – including nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, and other members of the care team - to apply. We are also seeking financial support for this program – the program is a priority for the Society and vital to supplying a well-trained workforce to the growing PALTC population, and is only possible with support from members and state chapters.

Second, we need you to tell us about the excellent work that’s going on in the field. The Foundation is accepting nominations until November 17 for its excellence awards and quality improvement awards programs. Please tell us who you feel deserves to be recognized, and about projects and facilities you’re aware of that are improving the quality of life of patients. These people and facilities deserve our praise and thanks - and we can all learn from them. Plus, the quality improvement award winners get a cash award as well.

Please take just a few moments of your time to help the Society, your colleagues, patients, and the future of PALTC.

Thank you.
