“Normalcy” has become a nostalgic word in recent months, especially as the COVID-19 pandemic rages on with no end in sight. Everyone yearns to return to more predictable times, yet no one knows what the “new normal” will look like or when it will arrive. During a program at the 71st American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) Annual Convention & Expo in October, Matthew Beacom, MD, of the University of Nebraska Medical Center, said, “Normalcy will come when we have accurate, reproducible point-of-care testing and treatment.
