Frailty and All-Cause Mortality in Older Adults: A Risk Assessment

I read the recent article published in this journal written by Fan et al1 with great interest. The authors conducted a meta-analysis on the association between frailty and all-cause mortality in older adults. The pooled risk ratios (RRs) of frail women and men for all-cause mortality were 2.41 [95% confidence interval (CI) 2.07-2.80] and 2.94 (95% CI 2.12-4.09), respectively. By using the frailty index, the pooled RRs (95% CIs) of frail women and men for all-cause mortality were 3.23 (2.16-4.83) and 2.63 (2.33-2.98), respectively.
