Financial relationships between health care professionals and the pharmaceutical and medical device industry are prevalent in the United States, leading to conflicts of interest (COIs).1–3 Studies have shown that industry payments are concentrated among a minority of geriatricians.3 Additionally, high-paid physicians often hold influential positions, such as journal editors, requiring higher ethical standards.4,5 Public scrutiny regarding financial relationships between industry and physicians, including editors, has increased.
