The Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) emerged from a pioneering initiative in San Francisco's Chinatown in the early 1970s. From those grassroots beginnings, PACE has grown to encompass 180 programs serving just over 80,000 frail older adults across 33 states. Although evidence resulting from this progress demonstrates the market's validation of the model, it represents only a fraction of those who could benefit from PACE's market-driven, cost-effective care approach.
