Falls are an important problem in frail older inpatients.1 Low-impact floors (LIFs) have the potential to reduce the severity and frequency of injuries from falls, working by absorbing energy from a fall, thereby reducing the physical forces on the patient.2 LIFs have been shown to reduce injuries from falls in both hospital inpatients and residential care settings.3–5 Little is known about the acceptability of LIFs from a patient perspective.
