Drive to Describe Effort Aspires to Move the Needle on Polypharmacy

When AMDA – The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine surveyed leaders in the field about what topics they would like to help move the needle on, polypharmacy rose to the top of the list. “We had a consensus, and we agreed to come together, brainstorm, and commit to moving the needle on this issue and, eventually, others,” said Arif Nazir, MD, CMD, chief medical officer for Signature HealthCare and past-president of the Society. The result was the establishment of an interdisciplinary workgroup and the launch of the Society’s Drive to Deprescribe (D2D) initiative — and it has taken off.
