Determination of Frail Elderly Status in a Home Healthcare Population

Introduction: Frailty, a state of physical vulnerability associated with higher rates of hospitalization, intensive care unit use, debility, mortality and total cost of care, has gained attention in recent years, but it is not yet well characterized among home healthcare recipients. Objective: The objective of this study was to develop a novel claims-based approach of identifying frailty in an elderly home healthcare population.
