In Australia, residential aged care facilities (RACFs) serve as necessary health care settings for the well-being of complex, older adult individuals, particularly in managing their medications. Related to other congregate care environments, RACFs span services common in the United States defined as assisted living and skilled nursing. The recent study by Okafor and colleagues,1 conducted in Australia, sheds light on the significant impact of pharmacist-led deprescribing initiatives. With an aging population and rising health care costs, exploring effective strategies to optimize medication use is imperative.
