Commentary on “Hip Fracture Geriatric (HIP-G) Index: Predicting 12-Month Mortality in Older Adults With Hip Fracture”

We read with deep interest the article by Ceolin et al, "Hip Fracture Geriatric (HIP-G) Index: Predicting 12-Month Mortality in Older Adults With Hip Fracture."1 The article highlights the burden of fragility fractures in elderly people and possible later complications, in this case, the 12-month mortality rate. Prognostic tools can play an important role in guiding the management and clinical decision making for these patients. Established tools, such as the Multidimensional Prognostic Index (MPI), are validated for risk stratification.
