Frailty is a syndrome characterized by decreased physiologic reserve resulting from decline across multiple physiologic systems. It is a common condition among elderly patients in nursing homes and has been linked to increased risk of adverse health outcomes. The association of frailty with health and quality of life outcomes in these living in nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic is not well understood. Evaluation of Frailty in nursing home residents might help provide an identification tool to recognize patients who are likely to have poor outcomes including rapid deterioration or significant functional decline.
