Caregiver Assessment Is Critical to Home-Based Medical Care Quality

For several years, leaders in home-based medical care (HBMC) have endeavored to develop standards for primary care and palliative care in the home setting. The recent paper by Christine Ritchie et al1 is yet another contribution to this multifaceted effort, laying a foundation for demonstrating value and improving on those outcomes over time. My concern with this effort is that its focus seems to be narrowing just as a fuller picture of dependent adults and their caregivers is emerging elsewhere.
