Within this issue of JAMDA, there are multiple articles that describe barriers and facilitators to implementing and scaling evidence-based interventions in nursing homes (NHs). Together, these authors highlight many of the challenges that are universal to the implementation phase of the “Discovery-to-Delivery” translational cycle, as well as several that are unique to the NH setting. Mills and colleagues elicited feedback from NH staff regarding perceived barriers and facilitators for implementing evidence-based strategies to improve interactions between staff and residents; respondents indicated that in addition to limitations in staffing and resources, a lack of facility-wide understanding of the project's goals was a common challenge to the success of any evidence-based implementation effort.
