Society Urges Resolution on Delayed Processing of Employment Authorization Applications
Last week, the Society joined other long-term care associations in urging the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to find resolutions for long delays in processing Employment Authorization Document (EAD) renewals. The groups suggested that the EAD applications are prioritized once they are within 60 days of the expiration of eligible work authorization, allow applicants to file for EAD renewals sooner, and issue longer duration of EADs. “The health care industry has taken several measures to try to recruit and retain workers during this critical time,” the letter stated. “We are asking USCIS to partner with the health care industry, and the U.S. labor market overall, in trying to retain workers.”
