Research to Improve Care and Outcomes for Persons With Dementia and Their Caregivers: Immediate Needs, Equitable Care, and Funding Streams

The articles in the July 2021 issue of JAMDA address the range of topics relevant for persons living with dementia and their caregivers—including but not limited to risk screening,1 assessment,2 medical comorbidities,3 behavioral distress,4–6 quality of life,7 care preferences,8 functional and behavioral care,9 medication use,10–12 telemedicine,13 health services use,14,15 continuity of and transitions in care,16,17 caregiving,18–20 policy,21 and the human rights of persons with dementia.22 The issue also includes articles that present the scientific background of 3 of the topics presented at the 2020 National Research Summit on Care, Services, and Supports for Persons With Dementia and Their Caregivers sponsored by the National Institute on Aging.
