Cryptogenic Cirrhosis: Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis Despite the Absence of Risk Factors?

Cirrhosis, a manifestation of end-stage liver disease, is said to be cryptogenic when the etiology of the destruction of liver architecture is unknown. We report an unusual case of cryptogenic cirrhosis due to nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in a patient with no known risk factors for nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).
