I am very proud to be the Nursing Home Administrator of Cadia Healthcare Renaissance in Millsboro, DE. Holding this position for the last four years has allowed me the unique opportunity to directly impact more lives than I can begin to count. With a team more than 180 members strong from maintenance, housekeeping, and dietary, to activities and nursing, we work day in and day out to provide the highest quality care to our residents. We work in partnership with our highly competent, empathic, and professional team of doctors and advance nurse practitioners led by our dedicated and committed medical director, Dr. Susan Levy. Renaissance boasts of our status as a CMS-rated 5 Star Facility. We are a preferred provider referral source by Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, DDE, in order to attend to the high acuity residents they send our way, while at the same time maintaining a relatively low re-hospitalization rate because of the competency of the medical care they receive once they come through our doors. Our medical staff provides excellent communication with our team and is always sharing their knowledge in order to improve our skills and ultimately provide better outcomes. They give freely of their time and talents to assist us with working through challenging medical scenarios as well as tough resident and family scenarios. They are always PRESENT to us. We are a TEAM and the residents and family members recognize and appreciate that unified approach to providing their care. Our facility motto is “Be the reason someone smiles today,” and I believe that is what must be the drive behind what we do. Post-acute and long-term care medicine can be a difficult and demanding field. Residents are struggling as their bodies are wearing down and family member struggles because of sadness and sometimes guilt because of the losses they see in their loved one. The most successful team members I have seen are the ones that come to work each day with the specific intentionality that the resident and family members deserve the highest quality care provided by the most compassionate staff. I applaud Dr. Levy and her entire medical staff for their efforts to lead our team on these sometimes difficult journeys with residents and their families, knowing we are the ones who are called to go where many others never could.
