Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medical Association Adds 5 New Choosing Wisely Statements

The Choosing Wisely campaign, founded by the American Board of Internal Medicine Foundation, encourages patients and medical providers to have conversations on which clinical tests, treatments, and procedures are evidence-based and necessary, and which may not provide high value. Since its inception in 2012, the campaign has “influenced many projects that explored ways to reduce overuse and unnecessary services and improve patient outcomes.”1 Over 80 specialty societies have engaged in Choosing Wisely on an international scale.
