Only a few studies have investigated the relationship between dementia and the utilization of early rehabilitation in older adults with common medical conditions. Patients with dementia hospitalized for hip fractures or strokes were less likely to engage in rehabilitation programs, receive fewer rehabilitation sessions, and were at a disadvantage compared with those without dementia.1,2 However, to our knowledge, the relationship between dementia and early rehabilitation in older adults with heart failure or pneumonia remains unexplored.
