We read with great interest the study by Leme and colleagues1 exploring the relationship between antipsychotic use and change in behavioral symptoms among long-term care (LTC) residents. The authors leverage a large and representative data source, the interRAI Minimum Dataset (MDS) 2.0, which uses real-world data to offer useful insights into symptom trajectories associated with antipsychotic use. Leme et al1 aim to estimate the causal effect of antipsychotic use on subsequent behavioral symptoms using treatment effect analysis and propensity score matching to balance baseline covariates.
