An Introduction to Artificial Intelligence in Post-Acute and Long-Term Care

Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming a popular topic in health care. Although it may feel like a complex or distant concept, AI tools are already transforming health care by enhancing diagnostic accuracy through image interpretation, streamlining workflows with the potential for reducing errors, and empowering patients to manage their own health data (Nat Med 2019;25:44–56). AI refers to technology that can mimic human thinking, learning from data to make predictions or assist in decision-making.
