I read the article published in this journal, which was written by Soria Robles et al,1 with great interest. The authors examined the relationship between hypoxia indices and apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) in older individuals with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) with special reference to aging and sex difference. The adjusted odds ratios (95% confidence intervals) of old and very old patients against younger patients for severe OSA category were 2.57 (1.42–4.65) and 5.52 (3.06–9.97), respectively. In addition, severe OSA and the highest quartile of total sleep time with oxygen saturation below 90% increased with age, which was more pronounced in women.
