Dementia Care in Our LGBTQ+ Population

I’ve been caring for patients in the LGBTQ+ community for most of my career. I’ve seen the impact that a negative interaction can have on their health care. I have a patient in his 70s whose previous health care provider had denied gender-affirming care and support to transition. We held hands and cried when I changed his name in our computer system. The hardships endured by this population are not lost on me.
