There are approximately 55 million people presently living with dementia, a debilitating neurologic illness that is not curable.1 Therefore, improving the quality of life and preventing cognitive decline of people with dementia are important management goals. Nonpharmacologic therapies such as massage, dietary modification, aromatherapy, exercise, music therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy have been shown to be effective in dementia care.2,3 In recent years, spirituality and religion have garnered attention in their impact on improving the well-being of people with dementia.
