If Community Matters to You, Cohousing May Be a Great Way to Age in Place

Peter Olson and his wife, Wendy Stickel, came to Portland, OR, ten years ago with the desire to be closer to family in their retirement. After they had rented for a bit, a friend put them in touch with a group interested in starting a cohousing community. “We were intrigued,” Mr. Olson said when I talked to him in late May. “I knew nothing about cohousing, and I think Wendy had heard about it but didn’t know much.”
