Caring for the Ages
Although I’ve pretty much stopped watching the news on television, I did recently see some coverage of the 80th anniversary of the Allied invasion of Normandy on D-Day. This sparked my memory of the 40th anniversary in 1984, during which time I was a high school teacher in New York City. At the time, I led a bicycle camping trip to France over the summer. We had started in Paris and biked west to Normandy, making our way south through Brittany along the same path U.S. soldiers had marched decades earlier.
