Hip fractures cause severe global disease burden among older adults, leading to impairments in functional ability, quality of life, and excess mortality of more than 20%.1,2 Geriatric patients are vulnerable to perioperative problems, among which fluid and electrolyte imbalances are important.3 Calcium disturbances are less common than other electrolyte imbalances, but when they emerge, they can lead to severe outcomes.4 Hypercalcemia is seen in 3% to 6% of patients admitted to a hospital.5
