Correlated Prescribing Patterns for Antibiotics and Antipsychotics at Veteran Affairs

In nursing homes (NHs), antibiotics and antipsychotics pose risks to resident safety. Previous work in community NHs characterized providers’ prescribing rates for antibiotics and antipsychotics and assessed associations between the two drug classes. This analysis assesses antibiotic and antipsychotic prescribing patterns at nursing homes located in Veterans Affairs (VA) medical centers known as community living centers (CLCs).
