The number of older adults in the U.S. is expected to grow by 30% in the next decade and reach 74.1 million by 2030 creating an immediate need to educate and prepare sufficient health workforce for their care. The South Florida Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program (SFGWEP) aims to improve health outcomes for older adults in underserved communities in Miami-Dade and Broward counties by providing geriatric education to trainee groups across all healthcare settings. The purpose of the study was to improve the quality of care and continuously promote the profession of geriatrics by evaluating the educational needs within the multifaceted health workforce and future generations of healthcare professionals.
