Temporal Muscle Thickness: A Far-Fetched Measurement in Sarcopenia

We have read with great interest the recently published article by Borda et al.1 The authors have tried to investigate the correlation between temporal muscle thickness (TMT) and appendicular lean muscle mass (ALM) index measured by dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA). They have a found weak correlation between them and concluded that TMT could be an alternative measurement for detecting sarcopenia. The authors have also mentioned TMT’s associations with gait speed and cognition. We congratulate them for drawing attention to the importance of muscle measurements in predicting adverse outcomes.
