We have read the report by Putot et al1 regarding the long-term prognosis of patients with aspiration pneumonia (AsP). We appreciate the authors’ efforts in identifying differences in the short- and long-term prognosis of patients with AsP and those with other types of acute pneumonia and diseases. Patients with AsP often died within the first month of disease onset. Further, the long-term prognosis of patients with AsP who survived the first month of disease onset did not differ significantly from that of patients with other diseases.
